Patient sues doctor for allegedly prescribing wrong pain medication

A St. Clair County resident is suing a doctor and a physician’s assistant, alleging he broke out with a rash and suffered acute kidney failure after he was prescribed the wrong pain medication.

William Elliott filed a lawsuit against Dr. Robert Dizes and Julie Buchner on Aug. 17 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court, citing negligent treatment.

According to the complaint, on or about Jan. 6, Elliot claims he was negligently and carelessly prescribed clindamycin, in response to a treatment for a bump to his head. He claims the drug caused an adverse reaction, which led to permanent pain, disability and disfigurement.

He seeks an amount greater than $75,000, plus costs.

Elliot is represented by Thomas Q. Keefe, Jr. of Keefe & Keefe, P.C.
