Rear-end accident on Highway 15 leads to suit

A woman claims she suffered neck, shoulder and back injuries after a driver rear-ended her vehicle.

Jordia Gregory filed a lawsuit Sept. 16 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Steven Weissert.

Gregory claims she drove west on Illinois Highway 15 near its intersection with Racehorse Road on Aug. 7 when Weissert, who was driving in the same direction, struck the back of her vehicle.

Because of the collision, Gregory became sick, sore, lame, disordered and disabled; incurred medical costs; and suffered disability, according to the complaint. She also experienced pain and suffering and lost wages, the suit states.

Gregory blames Weissert for causing the collision, saying he negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to properly apply his brakes, struck the rear of Gregory’s vehicle, drove too fast and followed Gregory’s vehicle too closely.

In her complaint, Gregory seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.

Thomas C. Rich, Kristina D. Cooksey and Michelle M. Rich of Fairview Heights will be representing her.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 13-L-471.
