Woman seeks $300K in Shiloh accident suit

A woman has filed suit against the driver who she claims veered into her path, causing a collision.

Kassandre Baldwin claims she was driving south on North Greenmount Road and was approaching its intersection with Bridgewater Drive in Shiloh on Sept. 15, 2011, when defendants Crystal M. Gibbs and Henric Wicks, who were driving north on the same road, turned directly into Baldwin’s path, causing a collision.

Because of the accident, Kassandre Baldwin and her child, minor Ainsley Baldwin, sustained permanent disabilities including fractures and sprains and sustained pain and suffering, according to the complaint filed Sept. 10 in St. Clair County Circuit Court. They also suffered mental anguish, were inconvenienced, endured physical impairment, lost their capacities to enjoy life and sustained economic damages, the suit states.

Gibbs and Wicks negligently drove too fast, failed to slow down or reduce her speed to avoid a collision, failed to keep her vehicle under proper control, failed to warn of her approach and failed to keep a proper lookout, the complaint says.

In addition to Gibbs and Wicks, Kassandre Baldwin names Timothy Miller doing business as Meridian Supply as a defendant, saying it had hired Gibbs, who was working for it at the time of the collision.

In her complaint, Kassandre Baldwin is seeking a judgment of more than $300,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.

Morgan Scroggins of Scroggins Law Office in Granite City will be representing her.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 13-L-462.
