A woman has filed suit against the driver who she claims struck her vehicle.
Cynthia M. Boland claims she was driving a 2011 Ford Focus north on North Street approaching the West Pontoon Overpass in Granite City on Aug. 27, 2012, when defendant Joseph Mangiaracino, who was driving a 2009 Ford Crown Victoria in the same direction, struck her vehicle.
Because of the collision, Cynthia Boland sustained severe and permanent injuries, experienced great pain and anguish and incurred medical costs, according to the complaint. She also lost wages, the suit states.
Cynthia Boland’s husband, Michael Boland, claims he lost his wife’s companionship and society because of the collision.
Mangiaracino failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to reduce his speed to avoid a collision, failed to keep his vehicle under proper control, failed to properly follow signaling devices, failed to see Boland and failed to drive at a reasonable speed, the complaint says.
In their complaint, the Bolands seek a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.
They will be represented by Patrick G. Johnston and Benjamin T. Stephens of Johnston Law Offices in Edwardsville.
Madison County Circuit Court case number: 13-L-1430.
