Godfrey driver blamed for turning in front of oncoming vehicle

A woman claims she sustained left shoulder, knee, ribs, abdomen, ankle and back injuries during a collision.

Joan Ruyle filed a lawsuit Aug. 19 in Madison County Circuit Court against Ray Miller.

In her complaint, Ruyle claims she drove south on Godfrey Road near its intersection with Montclair Avenue in Godfrey on Sept. 14, 2011, when Miller attempted to turn into the northbound lanes of Godfrey and struck Ruyle’s vehicle.

In addition to her injuries, Ruyle experienced pain and suffering, lost wages, incurred medical costs and was prevented from attending to her usual duties because of the collision, according to the complaint.

She blames Miller for causing the accident, saying he negligently failed to keep his eyes in front of him, drove too fast, failed to stop at a traffic control device, drove in an improper lane, failed to keep a proper lookout and failed to exercise proper control over his vehicle.

In her complaint, Ruyle seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.

Allan L. Napp of Schrempf, Kelly, Napp and Darr in Alton will be representing her.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 13-L-1397.
