Scott Credit Union customer claims injuries in entryway trip

A Collinsville credit union is accused of negligence by a customer who says she tripped while trying to walk in the front door.

Kelly Beard filed a lawsuit Aug. 20 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Scott Credit Union.

On July 17 Beard was walking to the entrance of the South Morrison Avenue branch of Scott Credit Union, according to the complaint, when she tripped on a section of uneven concrete between the sidewalk and the entryway. Beard claims she fell and hurt her face and eye.

Beard accuses the bank of negligence for allegedly failing to properly maintain the sidewalk outside its doorway.

She asks for more than $50,000 in damages for medical expenses, lost wages and court costs. Attorney Bruce R. Cook of Belleville represents Beard.
