An employee of a Union Pacific subcontractor says he hurt his lower back while unloading cargo at the railroad's Dupo facility.
Raymond Olson filed a lawsuit July 25 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Union Pacific Railroad Company.
Olson says he worked for ITS Technologies & Logistics LLC, a company who subcontracted with Union Pacific Railroad to load and unload trailers in its Dupo yard. On Jan. 16, according to the complaint, Olson tried to attach his holster to a container and hurt his lower back in the process.
Olson accuses Union Pacific of negligence for allegedly failing to provide a safe work environment and failing to properly train him on loading techniques. He asks for more than $100,000 in damages for medical expenses, loss of income and court fees. Attorney David R. Jones, of Glen Carbon, represents Olson.
