Alorton tow lot sued over pit bull attack

A Centreville man says he was attacked by a pit bull in an Alorton convenience store parking lot.

Quincy Goodwin filed a lawsuit June 3 in St. Clair County Circuit against Harry Halter, doing business as Town & Country Towing.

According to the complaint, Goodwin was in the parking lot of the Snack and Back in the 4900 block of Bond Avenue when a pit bull got loose from the tow company next door. Goodwin claims the dog attacked him and bit him on the left calf.

Goodwin accuses Halter, the alleged owner of the dog, of negligence and violating Illinois' Animal Control Act for keeping a dangerous dog. Goodwin asks for more than $100,000 in damages for medical bills, loss of income and court costs.

He is represented by attorneys Charles W. Armbruster and Michael T. Blotevogel, both of Alton.
