New D.J.'s Bar in Alton sued by women claiming they were attacked

Two Madison County women say they were hurt when they were attacked at an Alton bar.

Jamie Farmer-Sparks and Denise Sparks filed a lawsuit May 31 in Madison County Circuit Court against New D.J.'s Bar and Grill Inc., Debra G. Lovell, Cynthia N. Allen and Charles E. Hall.

Jamie Farmer-Sparks and Denise Sparks were customers at New D.J.'s Bar and Grill in June 2012, according to the complaint. Allen and Hall were also inside the College Avenue bar and were allegedly intoxicated. Jamie Farmer-Sparks and Denise Sparks claim they were attacked without provocation and beaten up by Allen and Hall.

Jamie Farmer-Sparks and Denise Sparks accuse the bar and its owner, Lovell, of negligence for allowing Allen and Hall to become intoxicated and aggressive.

also accuse the alleged attackers of negligence. Jamie Farmer-Sparks and Denise Sparks ask for $400,000 in damages for medical expenses, lost wages and court costs.

Attorneys Craig J. Jensen and Benton J. Bradshaw of Alton represent the women.
