Assistant Madison County State's Attorney Neil T. Schroeder has been selected by Third Judicial Circuit judges to serve as the next associate judge.
Schroeder and Edwardsville attorney David Jones had been in a run-off for the seat in a second round of balloting. In the first round, none of the 13 attorneys who applied for the position had received at least five votes from the circuit's nine elected judges.
Schroeder received his undergraduate degree in 1989 from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, and his juris doctorate in 1993 from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.
His appointment comes as a result of former Associate Judge Kyle Napp's election as circuit judge in November.
