With municipal elections right around the corner on April 9, voters may want to be aware of several important dates:
- The last day to register to vote is March 12
- Grace period registration is from March 13 through April 6
- Absentee voting is from Feb. 28 through April 8
While Madison County will continue its practice of early voting, taking place between March 25 and April 6, St. Clair County will not.
St. Clair County Clerk Bob Delaney explained in a letter to a Caseyville official that “we do not do early voting in the off years.”
“I have no money in my budget for early voting in the April election,” Delaney wrote.
He also explained that in municipal elections the number of election judges at polling places is reduced from five to three. However, in Caseyville’s case, where “a very active election” is expected, there will be five judges at each polling place, according to Delaney.
