A Clinton County woman has filed suit against the driver who she claims rear-ended her vehicle.
Gayla R. Harnacke claims she was driving her 2000 Oldsmobile Alero north on Illinois Route 158 near its intersection with East Highway 50 on May 11, 2010, at about 9:40 p.m. when defendant Mary A. Gorsich, who was driving a 2003 Ford Mustang in the same direction, rear-ended her.
Because of the collision, Harnacke was hindered from attending to her usual duties, lost wages, experienced a great deal of pain and anguish and incurred medical costs, according to the complaint filed April 23 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.
Gorsich negligently drove too fast, failed to give an audible warning, failed to keep her vehicle under proper control, failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to apply her brakes to avoid a collision and failed stop her vehicle when danger was imminent, the suit states.
In her complaint, Harnacke is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.
She will be represented by Mark C. Scoggins and Natalie M. Sager of Crowder and Scoggins in Columbia.
