Women sue driver after being struck in Washington Park crosswalk

Two St. Clair County women say they were hit by a car while walking across the street in Washington Park.

Brasha Kidd and Ty-Tianna Peoples filed a lawsuit against the driver, Gilda Diane Lott, Jan. 19 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

Kidd and Peoples were hit in the crosswalk at the intersection of 48th Street and Caseyville Avenue in July 2011, according to the complaint. Lott was allegedly driving on 48th Street and failed to stop for the pedestrians. Kidd and Peoples claim they were hit by Lott and hurt by the impact with the car.

Kidd and Peoples accuse Lott of negligence and ask for more than $100,000 in damages for medical bills, lost wages and court fees.

Attorney Thomas C. Rich of Fairview Heights is representing Kidd and Peoples.
