A personal injury lawsuit filed in St. Clair County Circuit Court accuses driver Sue Landrum of causing an accident on West Main Street near Foley Drive in Belleville.
Attorney Chris Kolker of Belleville filed the suit on behalf of plaintiff William R. Watkins on June 20.
The suit claims the incident took place on Jan. 18 as Watkins was driving eastbound on West Main. Watkins claims Landrum, who was westbound on West Main, collided with him as she was turning left onto Foley.
Among other things, Landrum is accused of failing to maintain a proper lookout, operating her vehicle at an excessive rate of speed, failing to yield and failing to stop or swerve in order to avoid an accident.
Watkins claims the collision caused him to be tossed with force and violence within the vehicle. He is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, plus costs.
