A woman claims she experienced pain and suffering after a driver failed to stop behind her for traffic.
Teresa Roberg filed a lawsuit March 16 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Laura Garrett.
In her complaint, Roberg claims she stopped in traffic while driving north on Greenmount Road at its intersection with Frank Scott Parkway when the accident occurred.
"At the same time, a vehicle operated by Defendant was also traveling north on Greenmount Road at its intersection with Frank Scott Parkway when Defendant collided with the rear of Plaintiff's vehicle," the suit states.
In addition to her pain and suffering, Roberg lost her enjoyment of life, lost wages and incurred medical costs because of the collision, according to the complaint.
She blames Garrett for causing the collision, saying she negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to obey an electric traffic control device, failed to drive in a safe manner and failed to avoid a collision. In addition, Garrett negligently failed to keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front of her and failed to safely bring her vehicle to a complete stop, the suit states.
In her complaint, Roberg seeks compensatory damages of more than $50,000, plus pre-judgment interest, attorney's fees, costs and other relief the court deems just.
Benjamin J. Sansone of Sansone Lauber in Clayton will be representing her.
