A Belleville woman is suing a driver she says rear-ended her car and then left the scene of the crash.
Emily R. West filed the lawsuit Jan. 26 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Dwight M. Fultz.
In the complaint, West says she was driving her Honda Accord westbound on Main Street in Belleville in August 2009. Fultz was driving his Dodge Ram truck behind her and allegedly crashed into West near the intersection of 6th Street.
The lawsuit contends Fultz was arrested by Belleville police for fleeing the scene of the crash.
West accuses Fultz of negligence and asks for at least $50,000 in damages to pay for medical bills, the loss of her vehicle and court costs.
West is represented by attorney Stephen C. Buser of Belleville.
