A Madison County man wants an East Alton bar to pay for his injuries after he was allegedly attacked by another man who had been drinking there.
Scott Parker filed a lawsuit Jan. 24 in Madison County Circuit Court against Dave & Judy's Inc., the owners of B & R Cavern.
According to the complaint, Joshua Murphy was drinking at B & R Cavern in March 2010. The suit claims that while intoxicated, Murphy allegedly attacked and punched Parker, breaking his jaw.
Parker claims Dave & Judy's violated Illinois' Dramshop Act. He contends the bar is negligent for not providing for its customer's safety.
Parker is asking for more than $100,000 in damages to compensate for his injuries, loss of income and court costs.
Attorneys S. Russell Meyer and Amy M. Meyer, of Alton, are representing Parker.
