A woman claims she sustained extensive and painful bruising to her arm and leg and hearing loss after a driver turned into her path and collided with her.
Leeta Redd filed a lawsuit March 9 in Madison County Circuit Court against Beverly Schultz.
Redd claims she drove northwest on Illinois Route 143 at its intersection with Broadway on June 25, 2008, when Schultz, who drove southeast on Illinois Route 143, turned in front of her, causing an accident.
Because of the accident, in addition to her bruising, Redd lost 30 percent of the hearing in her left ear and sustained a 5 to 10 percent loss of hearing in her right ear, according to the complaint. In addition, she incurred medical costs, the suit states.
Redd blames Schultz for causing the accident, saying she attempted to turn left into oncoming traffic, failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to grant Redd the right-of-way and failed to stop in order to avoid a collision.
In her complaint, Redd seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus other relief the court deems just.
Mark Levy of Collinsville will be representing her.
