A woman has filed suit against the owner of an Edwardsville home, saying his uneven sidewalk caused her to fall.
Corinne Hawkins claims she was visiting defendant Andrew Russo at his home at 5105 Broken Arrow Dr. in Edwardsville.
She was exiting the house to walk to her car when she tripped and fell on an uneven sidewalk, according to the complaint filed Feb. 9 in Madison County Circuit Court.
Because of her fall, Hawkins sustained permanent, disabling and disfiguring injuries; incurred medical costs; and lost large sums of money she would have otherwise earned, the suit states. In addition, she has endured pain and suffering, the complaint says.
She blames Russo for her fall, saying he negligently failed to maintain a level and flat sidewalk, failed to provide adequate illumination for the hazards, failed to warn Hawkins about the uneven sidewalk and failed to repair the sidewalk.
Hawkins is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.
Robert D. Larson of Alton will be representing her.
