A man has filed suit against the allegedly intoxicated driver who hit him.
Joseph Patterson claims he was driving north on State Aid Road near its intersection with Amoco Cutoff in Wood River on July 31 at about 10:51 p.m. when David Neal, who was driving west on Amoco Cutoff, struck him.
Because of the accident, Patterson suffered injuries to his legs and head, experienced pain and suffering, was disabled and incurred medical costs, according to the complaint filed Sept. 16 in Madison County Circuit Court.
Neal negligently failed to reduce his speed to avoid a collision, drove too fast, failed to keep a proper lookout and drove under the influence of alcohol, the suit states.
Patterson is seeking an unspecified judgment, plus costs.
He will be represented by Lance R. Mallon and Dawna M. Hale of Mallon Law Firm in Wood River.
