Tech experts to speak at People in Business meeting June 23

Technology experts Lynn and Dick Slackman will speak on networking on the Internet, including an introduction to LinkedIn, FaceBook, blogging and Twitter at the next meeting of People in Business.

The meeting will be held Tuesday, June 23 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at GC Cuisine in Edwardsville.

"The Internet has become an essential part of the business environment. More and more customers are making their purchases on the internet, as well as, using the internet to find local products & services," said Dick Slackman, co-owner of Tenby Technologies.

"Businesses and organizations can use networking on the internet to augment in-person networking. Our goal is to help business and organizations, especially in the metro area, use the internet more effectively," he said.

The Slackmans own Tenby Technologies, a web design and internet marketing firm based in Shiloh. They are long time residents of the Metro-East area.

Both have more than 30 years of experience in information technology, including work with fortune 500 companies like Union Pacific Railroad and AT&T.

Lynn has BS in Business from McKendree & MBA from SIUE. Dick has BS in Mathematics from SIUE and MS in Computer Science from the University of Missouri-Rolla, and holds two IT patents.

The People in Business networking group invites men and women of the business community to their upcoming meetings. Visitors are encouraged to attend at all locations. Meetings are held once per month. Illinois locations include O'Fallon, Highland, Wood River, Litchfield, Collinsville and Edwardsville.

Missouri locations are in Chesterfield and Valley Park.

All meetings are scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
