Woodford and Sandra Martin have filed suit against their neighbor, claiming she has denied them access to a road that leads to their property.
The Martins have owned a piece of land since the 1940s that sits adjacent to Margaret Penn's land, according to a suit filed Oct. 24 in St. Clair County Court.
They have been traveling Ghorma Road, which sits on part of the southern portion of their land, for more than 20 years to access their property, the complaint states.
But the Martins claim Penn blocked the road and has not allowed them to travel on it.
They are seeking an order declaring they have easement over the roadway and other relief the court deems just, according to the complaint.
Lawrence O. Taliana of Taliana, Buckley, Asa and Reames in Edwardsville will be representing them.
St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 08-L-540.
