April L. Averette of Granite City claims she was flung "to and fro" inside her car after she was struck from behind by Tierra D. Brown of Atlanta, Ga. in a collision.
Averette filed suit against Brown in St. Clair County Circuit Court on Aug. 11 seeking in excess of $50,000 in damages for "painful, disabling and permanent injuries" from the Dec. 26,2007, incident in Fairview Heights.
According to the complaint, Brown allegedly failed to stop or swerve before striking Averette in the left turn lane on North Illinois Street in front of a McDonald's restaurant.
Averette, who is represented by Terry Peebles of Cahokia, claims she incurred significant medical bills to treat injuries to her neck and back, among other things.
