Spitz featured speaker at 'Friends of Allison' dinner

Olympic Gold Medalist Mark Spitz will be the featured speaker at the second annual Allison's Friends of Hope Benefit and Auction, to be held Saturday, Feb. 4 at the Sunset Hills Country Club in Edwardsvuille.

The benefit serves to help with the genetic research in finding a cure for colon cancer.

Spitz is considered the greatest Olympian of all time. In the 1972 Munich games, he took the gold seven times, a feat never before accomplished by an Olympian, and broke world records in each event.

He has won a total of 11 Olympic medals, the most by any U.S. athlete. Spitz is a highly requested public speaker throughout the world. While in Edwardsville, he will be making a visit to the Edwardsville YMCA.

The evening will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a cocktail reception with Mark and Tiffany Cohen, 1984 four-time Olympic gold medalist at Sunset Hills. This event is by invitation only.

Registration for the party and benefit will begin at 6 p.m and attendees will be able to view auction items and enjoy a cocktail hour with the dinner beginning at 7:30. Individual tickets to the dinner/auction are $100 each.

Payment may be made by check only and should be made out to Allison's Friend's of Hope. This is a non-for-profit organization; therefore your gift is tax deductible under 501(c) (3). Credit cards will only be accepted the night of the benefit for auction/silent auction items only.

Gloria Zupanci is this year's chairperson and can be contacted at 618-656-8752, zupancig@aol.com or P.O. Box 987, Edwardsville, IL 62025.
