A 36-year employee of Union Pacific Railroad filed a Federal Employers Liability Act suit claiming his anaphylactic shock diagnosis is the result of long-term exposure to herbicides along rail beds and right of ways.
In the suit filed Nov. 1 in St. Clair County Circuit Court, James P. Frawley, a signal man, states his illness was diagnosed in June.
He also is suing Professional Reforestation of Oregon Inc. and Deangelo Bros. for their chemical weed control of Union Pacific's rail beds.
Frawley, seeking in excess of $75,000 in damages, claims he was hospitalized in intensive care "and in danger of life-threatening consequences if further exposed."
He is represented by Jon G. Carlson of Carlson & Carlson in Edwardsville.
