Friend sues host for beer bottle attack

A man who was beaten with a beer bottle while sleeping at a friend's home filed suit against the attacker and his host in St. Clair County Circuit Court Oct. 24.

Naif Majid claims that on May 23, 2004, he was attacked, assaulted and battered by Michael Henson while staying at the home of Brenna Henson on Betty Lane in O’Fallon.

Majid claims Henson did not inform him of Michael’s violent propensities, failed to take precautions to protect individuals inside her home and failed to lock or change the locks which allowed Michael to enter the residence.

According to the complaint, Michael used a beer bottle to willfully and wantonly strike Majid in the face, head, back, neck and body causing serious injuries.

Majid claims extensive physical injuries to his face, head, back, neck and body as well as emotional trauma, pain and suffering, medical expenses, lost wages, disability and loss of normal life.

“Majid is entitled to punitive damages as a result of Michael Henson’s intentional misconduct,” the complaint states.

Represented by Michael Brunton of Collinsville, Majid is seeking damages in excess of $200,000 plus costs of the suit.
