Uneven casino parking lot prompts injured woman to sue for $50,000

Argosy Casino in Alton

A Belleville woman who fell in the Alton Belle Casino parking lot on Oct. 12, 2003, filed suit in Madison County Circuit Court seeking in excess of $50,000 for injuries she allegedly sustained.

Barbara Montero claims Argosy allowed a dangerous condition to exist on the parking lot surface, including cracks and uneven surfaces. She also alleges that the casino failed to maintain, fix, repair or remediate its parking lot or warn her of dangerous conditions.

In the suit filed Sept. 21, Montero claims she sustained permanent, severe, painful and disabling injuries to her legs, knees, head, face, teeth, arms, hands and shoulders, suffered extreme pain, became liable for medical expenses and has lost wages and income as a result of her injuries.

She is represented by Mark Schuver of Belleville.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge George Moran.
