A resident of The Colonnades in Granite City is seeking at least $50,000 in damages for injuries she allegedly sustained there two years ago.
Marie Reinhardt’s power of attorney, Joan Achenbach, filed suit on her behalf Sept. 16, in Madison County claiming she sustained a fractured femur while being transferred to her bed on Oct. 4, 2003.
Achenbach also claims The Colonnades failed to properly notify and consult Marie’s next of kin and power of attorney regarding a significant deterioration in her physical status and the injuries she sustained.
The complaint also claims the facility failed to care for Marie in a manner which maintained her dignity and quality of life and failed to timely treat the injury she suffered.
Achenbach also claims The Colonnades failed to timely report Marie’s injury to the Department of Public Health and failed to provide necessary care and services to attain or maintain the highest practicable physical, mental, and Marie's psychosocial well-being.
According to the complaint, Marie has suffered a marked deterioration of her prior physical condition, became liable for medical expenses, suffered great pain and mental anguish, and has suffered a permanent disability.
She is represented by Robert Gregory of East Alton. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Nicholas Byron.
