Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Bethalto
Just days before his case was set for a jury trial, Ray Litzau settled his fish fry injury case for an undisclosed amount against the Catholic Diocese in Springfield and Bishop George Lucas.
Litzau’s trial was slated for Sept. 19, but he settled and dismissed the case with prejudice on Sept. 9.
The suit, filed Dec. 5, 2003, claimed Litzau sustained knee injuries at the Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Bethalto on Feb. 22, 2002.
According to his complaint, the church negligently permitted water to accumulate on the floor causing him to slip and fall “with great force and violence.”
Litzau claims he suffered great physical pain and mental anguish, was prevented from attending to his usual affairs and duties and that he has been deprived from great gains, profits, salaries and wages, which he would otherwise would have acquired, earned and received.
He was represented by Robert Gregory of East Alton.
The defendants were represented by the Law Office of Robert Hayes in St. Louis.
