FELA filed against Alton & Southern in St. Clair County

Allen Wedel filed a Federal Employers Liability Act (FELA) suit in St. Clair County Circuit Court Aug. 18, alleging his employer Alton & Southern Railway failed to provide him with a reasonably safe place to work.

Wedel also claims Alton & Southern was negligent when it failed to:

  • provide him with safe and proper tools;

  • inspect and maintain its premises, work areas, and equipment including keyboards;

  • properly train him;

  • provide hand and wrist supports; and

  • adopt and implement an adequate medical management or ergonmic program to treat and control work related musculoskeletal disorders.

    According to Wedel, he suffered severe and permanent injuries to his eyes, hands, wrists, arms and other ailments and conditions, extreme pain, substantial hospital costs, lost wages, and has become disabled and lost the enjoyment of life.

    Represented by John Papa of Granite City, Wedel is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 plus costs of the suit.
