Quik Trip's "carelessness" in allowing a broken soda cup lid to remain on its floor has led to a $50,000 personal injury lawsuit in Madison County.
Gerold Griggs, Jr. claims he slipped and fell on a broken lid at a Madison Quik Trip store June 26.
According to the complaint lodged Aug. 22, QT failed to train employees on the correct way to barricade the area of the fallen lid and did not warn Griggs of its danger.
“QT negligently used poor judgment in allowing a broken lid to remain in the area,” the complaint states.
Griggs claims he sustained injuries to his back and legs, suffered a disability, experienced pain and suffering, lost wages, and has spent money on medical expenses.
Griggs is seeking at least $50,000 in damages plus costs of the suit. He is represented by Collinsville attorney John Hustava.
The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Nicholas Byron.
