Teen-age haven Fun Spot Skating Center in Belleville is being sued by a mom whose son was pushed and fell on a metal edging more than five years ago.
Christopher DeSimone, the subject of a $50,000 lawsuit filed in St. Clair County Circuit Court Aug. 12, was 10-years-old at the time.
Carol DeSimone claims her son sustained serious and permanent injuries April 14, 2000, when he fell onto a loose portion of metal edging along the curb of the skating rink.
According to the suit, Fun Spot "failed to provide a good, safe and proper place for the plaintiff."
She also claims the skating rink did not provide adequate security for patrons.
DeSimone "was and will continue to be hindered in attending to usual duties and affairs," the complaint states, "and has lost and in the future will lose the value of this time.
"As a result of these injuries, plaintiff has become liable for large sums of medical bills."
The complaint does not indicate DeSimone's exact injuries.
DeSimone is represented by Thomas J. Lech of Collinsville.
