Jennie Fosnock of Fairview Heights filed a medical malpractice complaint against James Wade, M.D., Healthcare Physicians of Southern Illinois and St. Louis University in St. Clair County Circuit Court Aug. 5 claiming they failed to perform a routine screening which could have led to the timely treatment of colorectal cancer.
Seeking damages in excess of $150,000, Fosnock claims Wade failed to properly evaluate a complaint of rectal bleeding. The suit does not indicate when that exam took place.
On March 28, 2000, she went to a clinic ran by St. Louis University for a well-woman exam, which included a pelvic exam. She was examined at the clinic again on April 11, 2001.
According to the complaint, in January of 2002, Fosnock was diagnosed with colorectal cancer.
Fosnock claims she has suffered permanent pain, mental anguish, a disability and disfigurement as a result of her injuries, became liable for medical expenses and has lost wages.
Fosnock is represented by James Williams of Williams, Caponi and Associates of Belleville.
