Alton Memorial Hospital
James and Alice Halloway of Godfrey filed a six-count medical malpractice suit against Alton Memorial Hospital, Midwest Radiological Associates and Samuel Essma, M.D. in Madison County Circuit Court seeking more than $300,000 in damages on Aug. 1.
James Halloway claims that on Jan. 16, 2004 while a patient at Alton Memorial, Dr. Essma allegedly failed to identify the ionic contrast dye prior to injecting into his spinal canal.
According to the complaint, Halloway suffered permanent and disabling injuries to his spinal cord and to the nerves serving his legs and feet, lost large sums of money in medical care, and suffers unremitting permanent pain and disability.
Alice Halloway alleges that she has been deprived of the consortium and services of her husband.
The Halloways are represented by Rex Carr of East St. Louis.
