A man claims he sustained head, hip and shoulder injuries after falling on an entrance mat in a Walmart.
Levo Dallape filed a lawsuit July 2 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Walmart, Glenn Masterson, Christi Brower and Sharon Wadlow.
In his complaint, Dallape claims he was shopping at the Walmart at 610 Wesley Drive in Wood River on April 17, 2013, when he tripped on the edge of the floor mat and fell to the floor.
In addition to his injuries, Dallape suffered great physical pain and mental anguish, incurred medical costs and endured disability, according to the complaint. He also lost his normal life and suffered disfigurement, the suit states.
Dallape blames Walmart for causing his injuries, saying the store negligently failed to sweep the entrance area, failed to properly mop the entrance area, failed to warn of the dangerous condition in the entrance area, failed to provide floor mats with slip resistant backing and provided a floor mat that was too small, among other negligent actions.
He also names Masterson, Brower and Wadlow as defendants, saying they were store managers of the Walmart where Dallape fell.
Dallape seeks a judgment of more than $250,000, plus costs.
He is being represented by attorney Michael P. Glisson of Williamson, Webster, Falb and Glisson in Alton.
