Tri-City Regional Port District sued by man claiming hand crushed

A man claims he suffered right hand and arm injuries when a forklift ramp fell on him, crushing his hand.

Corey Ursch filed a lawsuit June 25 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Tri-City Regional Port District.

In his complaint, Ursch claims he was invited to a warehouse operated in Granite City on June 27, 2013, when his hand was crushed under a forklift ramp. Because of the incident, Ursch suffered pain, incurred medical costs and lost money, according to the complaint.

Ursch blames Tri-City Regional Port District for causing his injuries, saying it negligently directed him to place his hand in an area known to pose risk, failed to support the ramp, failed to maintain the ramp and failed to warn Ursch that an employee was manipulating the ramp.

Ursch seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs. He is being represented by Samuel A. Mormino Jr. of Mormino, Velloff and Snider in Alton.

Madison County Circuit Court case number 14-L-907.
