A woman has filed suit against CVS, alleging she fell due to an incline outside a store in Alton that was not properly marked.
Betty Morris filed suit May 8 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Highland Park CVS LLC, doing business as CVS Pharmacy, and WEC 99J-14 LLC.
According to the complaint, Morris was attempting to enter the CVS Pharmacy in Alton on Sept. 22, when she tripped and fell on an incline leading to the store.
Because of her fall, Morris suffered numerous severe, permanent and disabling injuries, incurred medical costs and lost large sums of money, according to the complaint.
CVS allegedly failed to properly arrange the ramp by the front door of the pharmacy, failed to properly mark the border of the sidewalk, failed to properly mark the sides of the ramp and failed to properly warn the plaintiff of the hazardous approach to the front door.
Morris is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs. She will be represented by Robert D. Larson of Alton.
Madison County Circuit Court case number 14-L-682.
