Pickett named chair of Greensfelder's 'diversity and inclusion' committee

ST. LOUIS - Attorney Christopher A. Pickett has been named chairman of Greensfelder, Hemker & Gale's Diversity and Inclusion Committee.

Pickett is an officer in the firm's litigation practice group, where he focuses on complex commercial litigation, securities litigation/arbitration and employment disputes.

As head of the 10-member committee, Pickett will lead diversity efforts for Greensfelder, the fifth largest St. Louis law firm. Pickett steps into the role previously held the last seven years by Danielle Carr who will continue to serve as the firm's director of professional development and inclusion.

"We congratulate Chris on this appointment," said Vincent Garazzo, greensfelder president and an officer in the business services practice group. "He will be central to Greensfelder’s diversity-related efforts, an important part of our success and growth as a firm."

According to a press release from the firm, Pickett will "champion Greensfelder’s diversity vision and continue to build on the strong foundation that the firm has built by embracing the shared concerns of employees regardless of ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation or disability."

"I'm honored and excited to have this new responsibility in helping maintain - and advance – Greensfelder’s commitment to ensuring an inclusive workplace," Pickett said in a statement.

In April 2013, Pickett was among 160 attorneys nationally to be accepted to the 2013-14 Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) Fellows Program and was also recently recognized as one of the St. Louis Business Journal’s 2014 40 Under 40 honorees.

Pickett earned his law degree and a bachelor’s degree in history and Russian studies from St. Louis University.

Outside of his work with Greensfelder, Pickett is board president for Discovery School in O’Fallon, Ill. and serves the boards of ArchCity Defenders, which provides counsel to disadvantaged individuals facing state prosecution, and Habitat for Neighborhood Business, which creates retail centers nurturing entrepreneurship in disadvantaged neighborhoods.

Pickett is also a member of the American Bar Association, the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, the St. Louis County Bar Association and the Mound City Bar Association.
