Caseyville nursing home named in wrongful death lawsuit

A woman is suing a nursing home, claiming its alleged negligence contributed to her mother's death.


Stephanie Strickland, special administrator of the estate of Carolyn Strickland, deceased, filed suit in St. Clair County Circuit Court naming Caseyville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Inc. as the defendant.

In her complaint filed Jan. 16, Strickland is accusing the nursing home of negligently caring for Carolyn Strickland while she was a resident at the nursing home. Strickland states that while her mother was in the care of Caseyville she developed ulcers, osteomyelitis and gangrene requiring a leg amputation, post surgical wound infection and sepsis. Strickland is suing for on wrongful death claims accusing Caseyville of contributing to Carolyn Strickland's early demise.

Strickland is seeking more than $50,000 in damages. She is being represented by attorney Staci M. Yandle.

Yandle has been nominated as federal judge in the Southern District of Illinois to serve in Benton. Her nomination is pending.
