Godfrey HVAC company sued for allegedly misrepresenting how much customer would save

A Godfrey heating and air conditioning company is being sued by a customer who says the company misrepresented how much he would save on utility bills.

David John Ray filed a lawsuit against King Air Conditioning and Heating Nov. 21 in Madison County Circuit Court.

According to the petition, Ray hired King Air Conditioning to install a geothermal heat pump in his home. Ray alleges the company claimed he would save 75 percent or more on his utility bill and that the system would pay for itself within two to six years because of the money saved on utilities.

Ray claims the company made errors in the system's installation causing him to use excess energy and acquire substantial repair costs. King Air Conditioning is accused of negligence. Ray asks for more than $50,000 in damages plus court costs.

Attorney Thomas G. Maag of Wood River represents Ray. They request a jury trial.
