Motorist accused of causing collision

A Godfrey couple accuses an Alton man of becoming intoxicated and causing a car accident on Christmas Eve.

Angela McDonald and John McDonald filed separate lawsuits on June 4 in Madison County Circuit Court against Spencer S. Bosoluke and Steven Bosoluke, alleging negligence in a 2013 car collision.

According to the complaint, on Dec. 24, 2013, Angela was a passenger in her husband's vehicle headed northbound on Hanser Lane in Godfrey Township, and Spencer Bosoluke was driving southbound in a Toyota when he crossed into the plaintiffs' lane of travel and hit the their car.

The suit says Spencer Bosoluke failed to maintain control of his vehicle, keep his vehicle in the correct lane of travel, yield the right of way to the car McDonald was traveling in, keep a proper lookout, and drive at an appropriate speed.

Additionally, the McDonalds allege Bosoluke was driving under the influence of intoxicating liquors and other substances.

The plaintiffs are also suing Bosoluke's father, Steven, owner of the Toyota involved in the collision. They allege Steven Bosoluke should have known his son would be inexperienced and reckless in the use or operation of the car.

The plaintiffs claim both internal and external injuries that have caused numerous medical procedures and prevented them from doing their everyday routines.

The McDonalds seek damage in excess of $50,000 each, plus costs of suit and other relief deemed appropriate by the court.

They are represented by attorney G. Michael Stewart of Simmons Hanly Conroy in Alton.
