Pedestrian alleges driver hit her near intersection

A Madison County woman claims she was injured when a motorist struck her while she was crossing a street.

Patricia Brown filed a lawsuit on June 4 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Alison Giacomini, alleging vehicular negligence.

According to the complaint, during the afternoon of June 6, 2013, Brown was attempting to cross Godfrey Road near its intersection with Lexington Estates Drive when she hit by a car being driven by Giacomini.

The plaintiff alleges the defendant failed to control her vehicle, drive at an appropriate speed, keep a lookout for pedestrians, and reduce her speed. The suit says Brown received injuries to her head and right shoulder. Brown is requesting compensation for medical expenses and lost wages that she would otherwise be able to make as an able-bodied person.

Brown is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, plus costs.

She is represented by attorney Samuel Mormino of Mormino, Velloff & Snider, P.C. in Alton.

Madison County Circuit Court case number 15-L-718.
