New Athens business owner goes after police in suit

Kaskaskia River Marina and Campgrounds, Ervin Smith, Cheryl Smith, Ervin Smith, Jr., and Chris Koch filed suit in St. Clair County Circuit Court June 27 against New Athens, its police department and an officer for being maced during a false arrest.

Passenger files suit against Ford in van accident

A woman who suffered bodily injuries and fear of death when a Ford van she was riding in rolled over into a ditch, filed a $450,000 lawsuit against Ford Motor Co. and Auffenberg Ford in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

Stephen Tillery One day after the Illinois insurance broker Arthur J. Gallagher announced it would no longer collect now-controversial contingency fees from insurance companies, East Alton plaintiff's firm SimmonsCooper filed a class action lawsuit Oct. 27, 2004, claiming Gallagher & Co. breached its fiduciary duties.
