A woman who suffered bodily injuries and fear of death when a Ford van she was riding in rolled over into a ditch, filed a $450,000 lawsuit against Ford Motor Co. and Auffenberg Ford in St. Clair County Circuit Court.
In the suit filed June 28, Kizzie Bell claims the center of gravity in the 2000 E-350 van was too high causing it to become top heavy and unstable.
Before the crash happened on Marybelle Avenue in East St, Louis on Jan. 31, 2004, the van began to rock, sway, swerve and fishtail.
On April 8, James Haynes filed a similar suit seeking $400,000 in damages from the same accident.
Bell claims as a result of the incident she suffered from an “apprehension of impending death and suffered great fright, terror and emotional and mental anguish” both before and after the van flipped over.
Bell claims she sustained head, neck and back injuries and suffered from a loss of a normal life and has become liable for large medical expenses as a result of the incident.
She is represented by Susan M. Settle of Caseyville.
