A former flight nurse has filed a discrimination lawsuit against Carle Foundation Hospital, alleging wrongful termination due to her pregnancy.

In her lawsuit, Shelby Scholes claims violations of the Civil Rights Act, the Pregnancy Discrimination Act, and the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Scholes asserts she faced discriminatory treatment after informing her employer of her high-risk pregnancy and was denied reasonable accommodations.

Despite allegedly meeting performance expectations, she alleges that her employment was terminated in retaliation for requesting accommodations and reporting discrimination.

The case is filed in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Illinois.

Scholes is represented by attorney Mohammed O. Badwan, of the Sulaiman Law Group, of Lombard.
