A former employee of Southern Illinois University has filed a lawsuit against the university, alleging discrimination under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

In the lawsuit, Jennifer Burns claims she was unjustly denied an accommodation to work from home, which she claims she required due to anxiety and depression.

Allegedly despite providing medical documentation supporting her need for remote work, SIU allegedly refused her requests, ultimately leading to what Burns describes as constructive termination.

The suit seeks damages for economic losses, emotional distress, and attorney fees.

Burns is represented by attorney Shari R. Rhode, of the Rhode Law Firm, of Carbondale.
