An Illinois Department of Transportation worker has filed a lawsuit against truck driver William Harlow and his employer, Humbug Creek Trucking.

The suit, filed by plaintiff Mario Dolce in St. Clair County Circuit Court, alleges that on May 3, 2024, Harlow's allegedly negligent driving in a construction zone on Highway 64 near Mascoutah resulted in a collision that caused Dolce severe and permanently disabling injuries.

Dolce claims Harlow failed to keep a proper lookout, control his vehicle, reduce speed to avoid an accident, and observe the work zone.

As a result of these alleged negligent acts, Dolce is seeking damages exceeding $50,000 for medical expenses, lost wages, and ongoing pain and suffering.

Dolce is represented in the action by attorney Bruce R. Cook, of the firm of Cook Bartholomew Cook & Jones, of Belleville.

The lawsuit was filed in July. It was removed to federal court in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois on Sept. 10.
