The Office of Statewide Pretrial Services (OSPS) unveiled a new interactive pretrial data dashboard today that provides a summary of several initial decision points for criminal cases filed since the implementation of Public Act 101-652 and Public Act 102-1104, (commonly referred to as the Pretrial Fairness Act) on Sept. 18, 2023.
Additional data fields are expected to be added in the near future. This dashboard provides data on the 75 counties (map) in which OSPS provides pretrial services and is available here. “We are excited to share this data on the pretrial process,” OSPS Director Cara LeFevour Smith said. “The data makes clear how hard judges and other stakeholders across Illinois have worked to implement the Pretrial Fairness Act.” Individual counties have previously rolled out pretrial data dashboards including Cook, DuPage, Kane and McHenry.
These are also available here. The Illinois Supreme Court established OSPS in 2021 to provide increased public safety and equality in the pretrial stage of the criminal justice system. The Illinois Supreme Court, the Administrative Office of Illinois Courts and OSPS are committed to transparency and the sharing of data to inform the public about the changes brought by PA 101-652 and PA 102-1104.
