The lawsuit, filed in the Appellate Court of Illinois, Fifth District (Case ID: 5-23-0403), on March 7, 2024, involves plaintiffs Norman Conrad, Nancy Thouvenin, and Charles Conrad against defendants Tauna R. Conrad and Cory M. Conrad. The case revolves around a dispute over the repurchase rights to a piece of real estate referred to as the "Conrad Land."

The plaintiffs claim that they sold the land to David Conrad and his spouse, defendant Tauna R. Conrad, at below market value with an agreement allowing them to repurchase it. The agreement was contained in a representative's deed dated September 10, 2004. After David's death in 2018, Tauna transferred the land to their son Cory via a quitclaim deed but refused when the plaintiffs attempted to exercise their repurchase option in April 2022.

Tauna argued that she did not sign the representative's deed and invoked the statute of frauds as her defense. However, this argument was dismissed by the court during a hearing on July 12, 2022.

The plaintiffs are seeking judgment affirming their right to repurchase the "Conrad Land" under the terms stipulated in the original representative's deed.
