EDWARDSVILLE - A dental patient claims she suffered permanent injuries when a nerve was struck during an implant procedure.

Plaintiff Lea Voorhees filed the lawsuit in the Madison County Circuit Court against her dentist, Dr. Tyler Crews, and Chapel and Keller Dentistry (CKD).

According to the complaint, Voorhees visited Crews on Jan. 9, 2019, for a dental implant. Following the procedure, Voorhees claims she experienced numbness and was unable to eat normally. She learned that a nerve was hit during the procedure, resulting in injuries. Despite multiple follow-ups with Crews to map out her numbness, Voorhees' condition remained unchanged.

Voorhees claims she suffers permanent injuries, including numbness, pain, and sensitivity to temperature. She alleges Crews failed to meet the standard of care for a reasonably careful dentist and surgeon.

The plaintiff seeks compensation in excess of $50,000. She is represented by Keith Short of Keith Short & Associates.
